Inspiration

Gym intimidation is a real barrier. For many, the hardest part of a fitness journey is the lack of a support system. We built GymLink to bridge the gap between solo training and community, solving the motivation dip that happens when you feel like you're lifting in a vacuum.

What it does

GymLink is a social infrastructure for fitness. It empowers users to overcome gym anxiety by connecting them with nearby lifters in real-time. By combining a unified training journal with competitive streak tracking and a live "Gym Floor" check-in feature, we’ve turned the lonely grind of the weight room into a collaborative experience where PRs are celebrated and consistency is rewarded.

How we built it

Leveraging the power of AI-assisted development, we utilized Cursor and Claude to rapidly prototype and iterate. This allowed us to focus on high-level architecture and user experience, transforming a concept into a functional web application within the high-pressure environment of a hackathon.

Challenges we ran into

The road from "idea" to "execution" wasn't linear. We initially struggled with defining our core MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and visualizing the complex social logic. On the technical side, we faced significant deployment hurdles until we made the strategic pivot to Railway, which streamlined our pipeline and got us live.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of shipping a fully functional, mobile-responsive web app. Successfully managing our codebase through Git and seeing the platform handle live workout logs in real-time was a major milestone for our team.

What we learned

This project was a masterclass in modern development workflows. We mastered the art of AI-human collaboration, learned the nuances of beta testing a live product, and disciplined ourselves in professional version control and documentation—essential skills for any aspiring engineer.

What's next for GymLink

Our eyes are on the horizon. After ironing out the post-hackathon bugs, we plan to expand our "Gym Floor" geolocation logic and begin the transition from a web app to a native iOS and Google Play Store release.
