Inspiration

As high school students who have recently sought out to become more healthy and fit with our bodies, we didn't know how to go about it. We knew we had to go to the gym, but where do we go? What do we do? Thus is why we decided to create an app that can help people find gyms near them and answer any questions about going to the gym!

What it does

Our website is designed to be easy to use. With the ease of access to buttons that lead to two features. The first feature is a map where you can put in you location and easily find gym's near you. Each location will have a rating, with a lot of information you could find about it through google. Then with out second feature, you can ask the Jimbot about anything gym related to get started with your journey.

How we built it

So we used many different languages, apis, and environments to create our project. We first started with figma to design the front end of our website. We then converted that into code to create the website front page. Then out next step was to use google cloud api to create another webpage where we used many google api to locate gyms near a location and find information about them. Then we created our third component of a chatbot using cohere api, this was difficult to understand with no experience but we were able to do that then used streamlit api to launch the chatbot onto a website. Then our final step was to connect the three webpages together. We used the main front page with buttons to go to the other webpages which was relatively easy to do.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges while trying to build this project for hackthenorth. We were all inexperienced with cohere and google cloud api, thus we struggled to effectively use these api in our projects. Our biggest challenges came with these api, especially with google cloud api, where trying to find out the gyms near a location was challenging to do. As well as using the cohere language learning model to create a chatbot. Then, connecting the three webpages together was our final difficult challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of everything that we did this hackathon. This hackathon has been a great one where we met each other for the first time, and were able to create a good team which could communicate and effectively complete a project in pretty much 24 hours. We are proud of the fact we were able to use cohere api and google cloud api effectively to do the things we needed them to do. As well as creating webpages that were visually appealing, connecting all three of them with each other.

What we learned

We learned many thing in this hackathon. As we have mentioned, we learned how to use cohere api, google cloud api, streamlit api, and so many technologies like figma. These skills that we learned are going to be useful for our future endeavours in tech. Some of learned new languages that we used like javascript and java. We learned a lot in this project not just in technology, but skills with working as a team as well.

What's next for GymBot

There are many features that we planned include in this project but were not able to because of the small timeframe. Obviously the first thing would be to make the UI/UX look better for all three webpages, and convert all three webpages into one website. Making sure all the buttons on our website work and have cool animations. The biggest thing we plan is to move this to a mobile app as that will help reach the target audience in the best way possible. Most people will find that this project will be best used as an application. Thus, incorporation as an app will excel our project into new heights.
