Inspiration
We noticed that while there are countless fitness apps out there, none truly fostered a community where users could share, discover, and curate workout routines specific to each body part. Thus, the idea for Gym Ethics was born.
What it does
Gym Ethics acts as the "Facebook for fitness". It allows users to post their workout routines, categorize them by body part, and even 'like' other users' posts. The platform provides an intuitive way to explore and find the perfect routine tailored to individual needs.
How we built it
Utilizing Flask for our backend, we created a user-friendly interface with HTML and enhanced it aesthetically with CSS. SQLite served as our database solution, ensuring smooth data management and retrieval.
Challenges we ran into
Aligning the design elements to make the UI appealing was a significant challenge. Additionally, implementing features like the 'like' button without page reloads and filtering posts by body part required careful planning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Crafting a visually appealing website that not only looks good but functions seamlessly. We successfully merged the world of fitness with social interaction, creating a unique platform in the fitness tech space.
What we learned
Apart from enhancing our technical skills, we learned the importance of user experience and iterative design. Feedback played a crucial role, and adapting to user needs was a learning curve.
What's next for Gym Ethics
Looking ahead, we aim to introduce features like user comments, video integration for workout demonstrations, and possibly a mobile app. The potential for Gym Ethics is boundless, and we're just getting started!
