Inspiration

Gydde was created to provide an accessible and user-friendly environment for onboarding newcomers into Web3. We recognized that interacting with new dApps remains challenging, even for experienced users.

What it does

Gydde simplifies the Web3 onboarding process by enabling seamless access to EVM DeFi directly from Telegram Mini Apps. Through MetaMask Delegator integration, users will create an EVM wallet, manage assets, and sign transactions with a single click—all without leaving Telegram.

How we built it

Stage 1: User Acquisition Platform (Completed)

Timeline: Completed Deliverable: Web dApp featuring Web3 quests Key Features:

Developed and launched a web dApp offering Web3 quests.
Implemented a point farming system with a leaderboard to drive engagement.
Released a Telegram mini app with a game, significantly boosting user acquisition.
Established a strong user acquisition model for Web3 protocols, setting the stage for future development.

Stage 2: Telegram Connector to DeFi (Ongoing)

Timeline: Now till mid-October 2024 Deliverable: EVM connector to Telegram mini app using MetaMask SDK Key Features:

Integrating an EVM connector into the Telegram mini app using MetaMask SDK.
Implementing mint and swap functionalities with Memepad aggregator support directly within the Telegram mini app.
Ensuring every user has a primary EVM account via MetaMask Gator integration.
Introducing fingerprint authorization for secure access to MetaMask wallets within Telegram.

Stage 3: Telegram DeFi Aggregator (Upcoming)

Timeline: Mid-October 2024 - Q1 2025 Deliverable: Full-fledged Telegram DeFi aggregator Key Features:

Enabling seamless swapping and transaction signing within Telegram using MetaMask Gator support.
Supporting the top 10 EVM chains and top 3 DEXes for comprehensive DeFi access.
Implementing a bridge for L1 to L2 operations to enhance user experience.
Covering gas fees for users' operations (e.g., claims and swaps) using G-tokens, ensuring a smooth DeFi experience within Telegram.

Each stage of Gydde's development is designed to progressively integrate DeFi into the Telegram ecosystem, making Web3 more accessible and user-friendly for millions of Telegram users.

Challenges we ran into

Gydde's initial focus as a quest platform required significant marketing investments to attract new users. Despite this challenge, we built a community of 1 million users across Telegram, Twitter, and YouTube, with 130,000 registered users. However, the complexity of the Web3 user experience led us to shift our focus toward providing seamless access to EVM DeFi directly from Telegram Mini Apps.

What we learned

Web3 currently has about 10 million daily active users, which is relatively few. In contrast, Telegram mini apps like Notcoin and Hamster Combat have engaged 230 million users in six months by offering a simple, intuitive interface. These users, however, are not ready to interact with Web3 unless it is perceived as easy and straightforward.

What's next for Gydde

Our next milestone is integrating MetaMask SDK, launching an EVM-compatible memepad within our Telegram Mini App, allowing users to create and trade meme coins with one click. After that we will deliver a DeFi aggregator, providing access to all major DeFi tools directly within Telegram Mini Apps. Direct access to DeFi without leaving Telegram will be possible due to the integration of Metamask Delegation Tool, which will be done under the assistance of MetaMask and Consensys, since Gydde is chosen to be among the first projects to integrate this technology, meant to significantly reduce frictions in the user journey.
