Inspiration
Games are highly interactive and fun, so why not use this to learn something that can be beneficial to the user. This is our main inspiration behind developing games. This time around we have developed a game for the demography of 5 to 15 years old. There is a limited resource to learn about healthy habits and well beings in the form of infotainment in that age category. This void inspired us to develop a game where can user can play, interact and learn. Books and other study items are monotonous which doesn't excite student to learn about this things. Schools doesn't provide this type of content explicitly so why not target this audience and make a positive impact is what inspired us to develop this game.
What it does
A user can navigate, extinguish fire, kill enemy (virus), play Quiz and learn importance of eating green vegetables and fruits.
How we built it
We built this 2D game on unity and wrote the script on c#. Scripts are used for providing logics and functions to the game object.
Challenges we ran into
We were having a lot of trouble to connect the interactive part and the informative part. We had to be extra careful not to make this boring if not this would ruin the whole purpose of the game. After group discussion and brain storming we finally came up with story line that can be implemented in a fun and interactive way.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a game inside 24 hours is already a big achievement itself. We are proud of being able to connect our storyline to the game. There are several things a user can do inside our game and writing a scripts to each one was hectic but we were able to complete it.
What we learned
We learnt about basic fundamentals of using unity and writing scripts for logic. We learned about strength of team-work. We divided the task between 4 of us and worked independently on it which helped us to complete this challenge.
What's next for Gyan-Bahadur (2D game)
The current version of Gyan-Bahadur specializes on age group 5-15 years. We can take user feedback and develop the successive version for it. We also can include more task and interactive features to widen our target audience as well. We can include the reward system in our quiz feature where complexities will increase at each level. This not only will encourage user to learn more, it will also make our game more interactive for a wide demography.
