GuruCool

The Chosen problem Statement for this hackathon is on the theme of “Education”. We have devised a website, which is more of a complete online education environment. Our Project’s name is GuruCool. It is an interactive website built for providing a unique and creative digital learning environment where teachers can observe and modulate student behaviour in the classroom in real time. In the offline mode of teaching, the teacher just had to scan the classroom and he or she could judge from the expressions on the face of the students that whether they understood the topic, or did it become too complicated for their understanding. With Online Classes coming into the picture, the teachers have become handicapped in the way they’re taking classes. The Student teacher interaction has lessened drastically and active participation in the class is something each teacher struggles to achieve. We plan to bridge the gap between the teacher and the student by using a Machine Learning Model that will identify the faces of the students and judge their emotions through their expressions. This will require the students to switch on their camera. Using this Model we plan to provide teachers with real time feedback regarding the class atmosphere and hence, hope to increase class participation because the teacher will be identify the points in her lecture where students started losing interest. We are also building the entire learning platform with Whiteboard, chatbox, Audio/Video, so that our targeted audience (schools) can opt for our entire services and they don't have to look elsewhere. These Features have already been implemented.

Our Other features include: Adding specific Features for specific subjects, like for eg Having Google maps embedded for geography, and using filters to show the Rainfall in cm, ore mining locations, Vegetation and farmlands. This filter could be superimposed on the Google Map's satellite view. We can also build a virtual lab for Physics and Chemistry.

Our prototype is still in early stages and we plan to implement most of our features before the hackathon is over.
