Inspiration
Inspired by the rushed mornings accompanied by chaotic schedules, we wanted to capture a moment of awareness and wakefulness admist the morning blur. We wanted to utilize the physical tracking movement and haptic feedback of the Wii. All of these elements combined led us to our product: Guppy.
What it does
Guppy is a wellness app that simplifies stretches and exercises to slowly make the transition from rest to beign awake in the morning.
How we built it
Guppy was built completely through Figma. We conducted and recorded our user research on FigJam and prototyped low-fi, mid-fi, and hi-fi on Figma.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, we struggled to find a concrete sensory experience to focus on. This took some time to brainstorm as we went down different paths. Eventually, we found the haptic feedback of our phones to be an interesting element to incorporate. Therefore, leading us to focus on a touch sensory experience and waking up the body and mind.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of combining both a traditional sensory experience, touch, with an emotional/mental sensory experience of wakefulness in a wellness app. This unconventional take on a wellness app should bring about impact to a broad range of people as we could all use a little bit of reflection in our busy lives.
What we learned
We learned how to push the boundaries of Figma through our experimentation in animation and developing interesting functionalities to seamlessly flow the exercise routine. This was all to make an app that could bring a sense of calmness and transition the body from a night of rest to a day of productivity.
What's next for Guppy
Guppy's next steps are looking into how haptic feedback could be implemented in the app and possibly integrating movement tracking to streamline the flow of exercise. This would make the app more intuitive and blend into everyday morning routines.
