Inspiration
Our team was inspired by the ongoing debate surrounding gun control and the impact that gun laws have on gun-related deaths. We wanted to use data and technology to shed light on this issue and provide valuable insights to policymakers and the general public.
What it does
Our project, "Gun Laws & Gun Deaths Heatmap," visualizes the correlation between gun laws and gun-related deaths in the United States. The user can select a state and view its gun laws, as well as its death rate due to guns. The heatmap provides a visual representation of this data, allowing for easy comparison between states.
How we built it
We collected data on gun laws from a variety of sources, and gathered information on gun-related deaths. We then combined and analyzed this data to create the heatmap with HTML.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was finding a comprehensive and up-to-date source for information on gun laws. Additionally, it was difficult to standardize the data and accurately compare the gun laws between states.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the final product, which provides a clear and easy-to-understand visual representation of the relationship between gun laws and gun-related deaths. We believe that our project can be a valuable resource for anyone interested in the issue of gun control.
What we learned
During this project, we learned about the complexities of gun laws in the United States and the challenges of collecting and analyzing data on this issue. We also gained valuable experience in data processing and visualization.
What's next for Gun Laws & Gun Deaths Heatmap
In the future, we plan to expand the data to include more factors that may affect gun-related deaths, such as mental health resources and poverty levels. Additionally, we hope to make our project more accessible and user-friendly, with the goal of increasing its impact and reach.
