Inspiration

Following the UMake themes of gaming and music, the team was inspired to create a handheld game, inspired by the nostalgic Guitar Hero game.

What it does

The final design includes a 3D printed body, an LCD screen, LED strips, custom buttons, an Arduino, and a joystick to allow players to select a difficulty level (based on song speed), before pressing buttons when the lights reach the bottom of their strip. Arduino components were coded to account for user inputs in a timely and responsive manner.

Challenges we ran into

The team faced numerous challenges when building, including malfunctioning 3D printers, sorting through many wires, coding, and working within a time constraint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

After finishing the design, the team is proud of the custom body, component integration, and being able to create an interactive game in such a short time period.

What we learned

The team learned about troubleshooting 3D printers (including which infills present certain benefits and drawbacks).
