Imagine being dropped in Medieval times—armies, factions, and the risk of being left out. So why not build your own guild from the ground up and become ruler of the land with Guilder!

Inspiration

The theme of HenHacks and the story of how we were dropped into Medieval Europe really made us think about the wars and how scarce resources were back then. So we decided to make a system to organize guilds and groups!

What it does

It allows any groups to track their resources, members, tasks and even lets you talk to an all knowing Genie!

How we built it

This project uses Pharo with Small Talk as its backend and database with a React FrontEnd. We used Teapot to make our restful APIs, with Zinc Https making calls to the Gemini API and used a Object Oriented Dictionaries to act as our database.

Challenges we ran into

One extreme challenge was trying to get Pharo to work, but eventually it made sense and after many hours we got it to work!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to get Pharo functional and interacting with React and the Genimi API.

What we learned

We learned how different languages were back in the day and how much we can still learn looking back!

What's next for Guilder

We plan to finish up the rough edges and hope it will be a great showcase for SmallTalk and Pharo!
