Guiding Light: Advice and Wisdom Across Traditions

Inspiration

Sometimes if life throws you a challenge, you may seek advice or wisdom. But it's hard to know where to look. I wanted to help tackle that problem.

What it does

As input, guiding light takes your problem or issue.

For output, it generates wisdom from a traditional liberal perspective, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and a stereotypical American Grandparent. It also generates some art to focus on as sometimes that can be just as helpful as words.

How we built it

I used PartyRock with a prompt describing which traditions we should use to generate advice.

Challenges we ran into

At first, I actually felt like something was missing. Buddhism wasn't originally one of the outputs. But I'm glad I added it! I'm finding that the Buddhism advice is most calming for me.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I've tested this on a few users and I'm pretty happy to report that the abstract art is actually connecting with them as much as the advice. I've been told that it does a good job representing the feeling of what they're going through, so I'm glad I thought to include it.

What's next for Guiding Light: Advice and Wisdom Across Traditions

I'd like to add more art! I think some generative AI music could be really helpful. I don't know that PartyRock has this capability yet so I may have to move this to another technology.
