Inspiration
Wearables collect more data than most people can use. Many people stop opening their dashboards, and others find the numbers stressful. Working in healthcare, one of our founders saw the same pattern in clinic: the data rarely turns into one changed habit. We wanted an advisor that picks one behaviour, checks it with wearable data, and brings in the people who help it stick.
What it does
TrendSpotter turns sleep data into a 14-day plan for one habit: a consistent bedtime.
- Each plan has three steps, a when-then plan, a daily check and a 14-day review, after which the user keeps, adjusts or changes the habit.
- Each recommendation states how many nights of data it uses, for example "Data coverage: 11 of 14 nights".
- Partners in the user's circle see check marks and cheers, not sleep data.
- Users choose how much detail they see, from "Just the plan" to "All the detail".
Sleep is the first focus. Oura and Whoop are shown with synthetic data.
How we built it
- An Expo app scaffold (React Native, Expo Router, TypeScript) with a defined data model and logic plan: data validation, data coverage, the 14-day review and synthetic personas.
- An interactive design prototype made with Claude Design and hosted on GitHub Pages.
- Claude Agent SDK for planning and code generation.
Status
The live link is a design prototype. The repository contains the app scaffold and architecture. All data is synthetic.
Challenges
We chose depth over breadth: we focused on one domain, sleep, and prioritized validating the experience through a design prototype that we will expand to other wearable data areas as we build out the platform.
What's next
We plan to integrate live wearable data, starting with Oura and Whoop. Next, we will add markers beyond sleep, such as activity, recovery and stress, and support more devices, including Apple Health, Garmin, Fitbit and Samsung.
Prior work
Started from the Expo create-expo-app template. All other work was done during Build Week (October 16 to 25). The detail settings are inspired by Dr. Mike Evans's wearable mindsets.
Team
A physician (clinical content and safety review) and an engineer (build and deployment).
