Inspiration
I really like the niche of working with the disabled. I want to work on screenreaders when I get better at programming.
What it does
Helps blind individual navigate cities (and maybe rural areas if there's wifi)
How we built it
Tech stack: Flask, Python, Heroku, Kotlin, Android
Challenges we ran into
Deploying to Heroku was very difficult. Our team was inexperienced with Kotlin, but we mistakenly believed it would be just like Java.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our idea was very clever.
What we learned
We have a lot of learning to do in the future. But we did learn somethings about python, flask, and web hosting. And Docker.
What's next for GuideDog
Functioning Prototype hopefully! Interested in embedded systems.
