Inspiration

Finding the correct movie as per your interest For example, you may want to watch an action movie before sleeping but you don’t want to end up watching meaning of life Companies also want users to stay as long as possible on their platform so as to generate more revenue

What it does

It recommends movie based on the user choice, user likes and more about user's Intrest.

How we built it

We have used Content based Filtering where general idea is that if user liked an item with certain properties then he/she are more likely to similar items Eg, Movies are recommended based on they Cast, Story, Genre, Plot and Director and Many more fields. We have are downloading the data from tmdb website for movie names, movie tags, Director names, released date and rating of the movie. We have implemented content based filtering using Bag of words method by using Pandas, Numpy, NLTK, Stemmer and few python libraries. We have constructed interactive User Interface by using Flask, HTML, CSS and Ajax query.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing voice recognition to search the movies which we could not achieve due to time constraint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Implemented successfully NLTK and Bag of Words technique which we recently learned in our academics

What we learned

Learned how to achieve target under pressure by integrating the work in team members. And also We got some ideas for improvements in future like voice app by using Speech to text methods to make this app contactless and automated.

What's next for Guess The Movie - GTM

It can be extended to plethora of utilities like spam filtering, hate speech filtering, music recommendation, books recommendation, news articles suggestions etc
