Inspiration

Growing up, I had a wild imagination. Moving around multiple countries, I often explored my surroundings, letting my imagination run free with ideas and images only I could see. This experience inspired me to create an AR app that enables people to share their digital art and creations in the real world. My goal is to foster a community of artists sharing their work while encouraging everyone to go outside and engage with the world around them.

What it does

Welcome to Guerila – the ultimate outdoor augmented reality platform where digital art meets the real world. Guerila empowers users to create, explore, and share captivating AR experiences right in their surroundings, transforming everyday spaces into dynamic artistic canvases.

Features:

Create and Curate Your Collection: Upload artwork to your inventory, whether it’s a 3D model (.usdz, .reality) or an image.

Bring Your Art to Life in the Real World: Visit an outdoor location, open the Creator Tool, place your artwork, fine-tune its positioning, and post it for others to discover.

Explore and Discover: Wander through your surroundings to uncover unique artworks posted by others. Capture your findings in photos or videos and share the experience with friends.

With Guerila, creativity has no limits. Dive into a community where art transforms spaces, and every location holds a new discovery.

How we built it

The initial version of Guerila was developed using Swift, ARKit, RealityKit, and Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

Building and launching a mobile app was a completely new experience for me—especially an augmented reality app, which I developed entirely on my own. Some of the key challenges I faced included:

Limited Resources: Since AR technology is relatively new and constantly evolving, finding up-to-date resources was difficult.

Solo Development: Working alone on a project of this scope was challenging and, at times, a bit lonely.

Outdoor Testing: Since Guerila is an outdoor AR app, most of the testing and development for AR features had to be done outside, which could be inconvenient.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud to have reached the milestone of launching the first version/MVP on the App Store, making it available for people to try.

What we learned

I learned a tremendous amount throughout the development of Guerila. From designing the user experience to building every technical component, I gained invaluable technical skills and insights into marketing and pitching to potential users. Most importantly, I discovered how much I enjoy building this kind of product and have generated countless ideas for future improvements. The sky’s the limit! :)

What's next for Guerila

My vision for Guerila is to evolve it into a new type of social network—one that connects communities through art and motivates people to go outside, explore, and engage with others. I have plenty of ideas for future features and enhancements. If you're interested, sign up and follow along on this journey!
