Inspiration People often grant app permissions without understanding the privacy risks. We wanted to create a tool that makes app privacy simple and understandable for everyone. ❓ What it does GuardLens analyzes mobile app permissions, detects potential privacy leaks, assigns a risk score and safety rating, and provides easy-to-understand explanations, precautions, and privacy-friendly alternatives. 🛠️ How we built it We built a web application using AI-powered permission analysis, app-category mapping, risk scoring, and Gemini API-generated explanations and recommendations. ⚡ Challenges we ran into Identifying whether permissions are justified for different app categories, generating unique comparison results, and making the system fast and beginner-friendly. 🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of We built an explainable privacy analysis tool that translates complex permission data into simple insights and helps users make informed privacy decisions. 📚 What we learned We learned the importance of explainable AI, privacy awareness, performance optimization, and designing cybersecurity tools for non-technical users. 🔮 What's next for GuardLens Expand app coverage, add APK scanning and real-time app metadata analysis, improve recommendations, and develop mobile and browser-based versions of GuardLens.
