Inspiration

Inspried by our team members' experience as we first got to Canada.

What it does

It helps young newcomers to step out of their comfort zone. Socialize and get to know the city.

How we built it

We used the MERN (MongoDB, ExpressJs, ReactJs, NodeJs) stack connected to Firebase as a cloud storage.

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out what the data flow will be for the communication between client and server. Making changes to the domain object model for simplicity (more often than we thought we would)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In a span of just a few days, we were able to build a scalable web application using industry tools. It's scalable because of the cloud storage that keeps all user-input content (videos).

What we learned

Setting up the cloud storage Firebase with the MERN stack leaving the potential for scalability.

What's next for GTFI Here

For younger generation newcomers. Potential for the project to be deployed, user authentication, using AI to set up future tasks, Implement verification for users' task completion
