Inspiration
In a world where our planet is changing rapidly, urbanization is spreading, population is constantly increasing, and natural resources are over utilized, we all want to improve sustainability. 68% of the world population projected to live in urban areas by 2050 (source UN) About 2 billion extra people will live on the planet by 2050 (source UN)
What it does
GrowVert is about supporting the urban community to develop vertical smart farming (soilless) to produce healthy and tasty vegetables using the “Science of Where”. Hydroponic farms improve sustainably and use up to 70 to 95% less water, deliver 30% more produce to market, 3x faster. With vertical farming, one acre area offers equivalent production to at least 4-6 acres of standard "soil" field.
How we built it
GrowVert project is using different technologies and products like React, JS APIs, ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS Living Atlas and ArcGIS online organization.
Challenges we ran into
Too many ideas to implement but not enough time (e.g. taking shadow cast into account)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A functional application in a very short time frame.

We all learned a lot about vertical Farming and how it’s contributing towards sustainability
