Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from life progression simulation games such as BitLife. We took a greater emphasis on student life and development, focusing on finding and providing as many opportunities as possible for players based on their current attributes.
What it does
GrowthGame is a game where players are placed into student setting and progresses through school life.
How we built it
Using pygame, we created a playable interface for players to interact with different objects to add to a digital "schedule" for their current year. Using Cohere AI, players are provided with a variety of options in the education, sports, and hobbies categories.
Challenges we ran into
Learning all of the different Python libraries and APIs, we ran into a variety of problems in terms of understanding the process of creating and updating a playable and interactable GUI. In the backend, learning the Cohere AI technology was rather simple, however, trying to create prompts that provided us with a structured output was difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our accomplishments for the project was being able to go outside of our comfort zone and create a project using digital art, as well as incorporating AI into the project.
What we learned
From the project design to the software implementation, we are proud of ourselves for all of the new technologies and strategies that we learned along the way.
What's next for Growth Game
We hope to implement further progression stages into the game and further learn and utilize AI to create potential pathways, opportunities, or recommendations for students.
