Inspiration

Through Hydroponic Farms Uganda’s work installing hydroponic systems and training growers, we have seen how important it is to notice crop problems early and respond with the right care. Growers may need to track crop conditions, nutrient readings and routine tasks while managing many other parts of the farm. We created GrowReady to make those daily checks easier to follow.

What GrowReady does

GrowReady is a mobile first hydroponics companion designed to help growers record readings, note crop symptoms and keep track of regular tasks. Its central flow is simple: check the crop, enter an observation, then see the next action to consider. The goal is to make farm information easier to understand and use.

How we are building it

For this hackathon, we are developing GrowReady as a new web prototype. We are focusing on a clear dashboard, a simple crop check in flow, a reading log and a task list. We want the interface to work well on a phone, use plain language and keep the most useful information easy to find.

What we are learning

Designing GrowReady has made us focus on the decisions growers need to make, rather than showing readings without context. Crop stage and growing conditions matter, so useful guidance needs to explain what a recorded value means and what the grower can do next.

Challenges

A key challenge is keeping the experience simple while treating farm advice carefully. A reading on its own may not explain the full condition of a crop. We are designing the prototype to keep observations visible and make guidance clear, while recognizing that growers may need expert support for more complex problems.
