Inspiration

My mom always keeps a garden throughout the year. She makes my brother and I do a fair amount of gardening, so this robot is for all the children who's parents make them do the gardening. But we

What it does

As of now, it measures temperature and light levels, and will automatically water plants if the temperature reaches above 30 degrees C

How I built it

We took the mystery box challenge and found parts of the chassis that we wanted to use. The legs and back frame holding all of the electronics were taken from the mystery box, while the sheet metal frame is built by us. We also attempted to use a solar panel to power the project, but it was unfortunately nonfunctional.

Challenges I ran into

Getting the robot to move initially, and figuring out that our power source of a solar panel was no longer available.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Building the robot itself. I'm honestly proud that it moves.

What I learned

Motor controllers are a must if you want to use wheels to drive a robot, a PWM signal from a microcontroller isn't enough...

What's next for GrowBot

Streamline the design and package it to be fully autonomous. We would also like to add cloud data tracking to allow for users to find out if there are any problems with their garden overall.
