Inspiration

Women are more likely to be diagnosed with anxiety or depression, which might be caused by internalizing their emotions. Studies have shown that women have a tendency to focus more on their negative emotions and problems^1, as well as spending more time on meeting the needs of others rather than taking care of themselves^2.

Because of this, I created GrowBliss, a service that will teach female students the importance of taking time for themselves. This will give a good understanding of how to care for their mental wellbeing, which hopefully will be with them for the rest of their life.

What it does

GrowBliss will help female students to learn about mental health, its causes, the risks, and, most importantly, which tools would help them reduce their mental health concerns. It is meant to be straight-forward, but in a caring and understanding way as to encourage better habits without scaring the users.

How we built it

The prototype was built through Figma. The main page has been coded by using HTML and CSS in Replit.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge is that I don’t really know how to code, so getting at least some of the pages to be coded in a way that they looked the way I wanted was certainly a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As mentioned, I am very much a beginner coder, so every time I can create a page that looks and works the way I want it to I see it as a great accomplishment to be proud of. I am also proud of the concept itself, since, as stated in the research I conducted, this is a big problem that needs to be addressed. So if I can contribute to more knowledge about mental wellbeing, that is definitely something I am proud of.

What we learned

I have learned a lot about different types of interactions and how to create them in Figma. I also have learned a lot more about coding than I came in with.

What's next for GrowBliss

I would like to conduct some user testing to make sure that my concept works and helps female students with their learning about mental health. I would also like to code the entire prototype properly so that I can deploy it in a way that it would reach the target users and help them in real life.
