Grow Together

Inspiration

We found trying to coordinate schedules between friend group members to be tedious and time-consuming, so we decided to create a solution that would both motivate friends to spend time together and make scheduling in person hang outs simple!

What it does

Grow Together aims to solve the social isolation in today's world by a simple way of planning casual hangouts and keeping people from flaking. It compares availability across friend group members and suggests times where everyone is available and possible activities to try! The app keeps people connected through an level up system and also gives people social tasks to help bring them out of their comfort zone.

How we built it

The prototype mobile app is built with a React-Native and JavaScript front end with a Supabase backend.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a balanced leveling and XP system to maintain user retention and motivate people to continue to schedule new hang outs. We also had issues narrowing down the features to add to the app, since we had numerous different ideas that couldn't all be feasibly added.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to implement an idea to solve a real life problem in improving scheduling group hang outs and potentially helping users with social anxiety. Our team is also proud of the scheduling and level system that differentiates our app from many others.

What we learned

We learned how to prioritize tasks and manage time when under pressure. Our team also learned a lot about creating and running mobile apps with React Native.

What's next for Grow Together

We hope to continue developing the app and do testing with our targeted user group. Eventually we hope to release the app to help people around the world spend time together!
