Inspiration:

We were inspired by how a single problem in a community—like an internet outage, flooding, or a compromised device—can affect many connected systems and residents. We wanted to create a tool that helps communities understand those connections and figure out what to do next.

What it does:

GroveLink connects community reports, infrastructure dependencies, cybersecurity risks, and AI investigation in one platform. It simulates incidents, analyzes their potential impact, and turns the results into an actionable response plan.

How we built it:

We built GroveLink as a web app in Lovable, combining an interactive community map, reporting system, cybersecurity dashboard, simulation workflow, and AI-powered investigation. We also incorporated RAG-style workflows so the AI can ground its analysis in community context and trusted resources.

Challenges we ran into:

One of our biggest challenges was connecting many different types of information—community reports, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and AI—without making the experience overwhelming. We also had to carefully distinguish simulated data from real-world monitoring while still making the demo realistic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We're proud that we turned what could have been a simple reporting app into an end-to-end community response system. Most importantly, we created a working demo that shows how a problem can go from a resident report to pattern identification, impact analysis, and a response plan.

What we learned:

We learned that building useful AI isn't just about generating an answer—it depends on giving the AI the right context, sources, and constraints. We also learned how important UX and transparency are when AI is being used to support community decisions.

What's next for GroveLink:

Next, we want to connect GroveLink to real community data and verified local resources, while improving the AI investigation and expanding its support for rural communities. We also want to make the system easier for local organizations to adopt and use in real incidents.
