Inspiration
Due to the pandemic, we have found that there has been a large increase in virtual group projects in recent months. We had noticed that we were unable to communicate effectively with teammates due to the nature of virtual communication.
What it does
This website provides a space where team members can effectively and efficiently communicate in one space. Members are able to use the calendar feature to view upcoming deadlines and the to-do list feature to view both group tasks and personal tasks. The progress bar provides an up-to-date picture of how far along the project is.
How we built it
We built this website using Html, CSS and Javascript. We used repel to code and jamboard to plan out our ideas. We assigned each member a task and each coded a section of the project.
Challenges we ran into
The greatest challenge we ran into was creating what we wanted to create. We went a bit over our heads when we planned and were caught up in the excitement of creating that we didn't consider if we actually could make it with Our knowledge and timeframe. our second challenge was planning meetings when all our group members could be present. This was because we have different time zones and daily plans.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud to get as far as we did considering our lack of coding experience, our busy school schedules, and that fact that all of us were completely new to HTML, CSS, and Javascript. In particular I am proud because I was really happy with the way it looks. I personally love the colour pallet and overall design.
What we learned
Once again, this was our first time using HTML, CSS and Javascript and we've learned a lot in these languages. We have also learned a ton more about coding as a group as well as coding with a time restriction. We have also learned from our mistakes, next time we will set smaller and more attainable goals.
What's next for Groupify
Seeing as our website is just a prototype right now, our next step would be fully coding it as well as finding a domain for it.
