Inspiration
Dictator: One who possesses the aux.
We want to do away with the limitations of the past by giving everyone a say with Cruise Collab. No matter the destination, whether it's a long road trip or carpooling during your morning commute, be an active participant in your journey! By doing so, you'll engage with those around you and the music you are passionate about. Maybe you'll discover a new artist, or maybe you'll find that your carpool buddy is a new fan of your favorite band.
We don't want to stop there, however. We want to keep you informed on all the events your favorite bands and artists are a part of, this way you won't every miss a concert because you didn't know.
What it does
Cruise Collab encourages users, whether they are drivers or riders, to participate in their journey by sharing their music. Search for the songs you want to listen to and add them to the playlist. The best part about it? Everyone in the car can do it too! By creating a shared playlist in real-time, from your own phone, you no longer have to worry about privacy concerns, unwanted algorithm changes, or the inconvenient nature of passing the aux.
However, Group Noise is much more than music by committee.
Discover live shows near you or at your destination that appeal to you.
Attend exclusive release parties and activations from your favorite artists.
Get notified the moment a pop-up shop is announced - "I didn't know" is no longer an excuse!
How we built it
Currently, Cruise Collab is a web app built using the MEAN stack. Additionally, we are using the UMG, Bandsintown, and Dolby APIs to deliver our enriched listening and discovery experiences.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Leveraging the given APIs to make Cruise Collab as amazing as it is. Replicating the HMI unit display for our proof of concept.
What's next for Cruise Collab
We want to further democratize and leverage the egalitarian nature of Cruise Collab for our future development.
Features in the pipeline include:
User Info - Currently, we are focusing on quality engagement between users, so there is no need to immediately track data. However, once our users understand the nature of the app, we will create individual accounts that track user data to better refine the kinds of notifications we deliver.
Preferred Music Service - By making our platform music service agnostic and giving our users the option of connecting to the streaming platform of their choice, the user experience is identical, regardless of OS or platform.
Caravan Collab - Go beyond the car you're in. By allowing drivers to connect to the same room, our users will be able to engage with a much larger pool of people. This would be perfect for large group road trips that require multiple cars. Additionally, this will allow artists to connect directly with their fans, even if they're on the move.
