Inspiration

Groundwater is the main source of drinking water and the source of nourishment for trees and lakes. Decrease in groundwater level of an area can have adverse effects such as drought, saline water intrusion and makes the land unsuitable for agriculture, thus it is necessary to prevent the ground water from getting depleted. In recent years many places have been affected by decreased water levels. Hence there is a need to predict the forthcoming level of water to plan effectively.

What it does

Ground Water Level analyzer and Predictor. IoT and Machine Learning is used to measure the value and predict the level with high accuracy. Using water level measuring sensors, the level of ground water is measured and the data is sent over the server. The data is stored in the cloud and a copy of it is sent to the main system. The received data is processed by the ML program to predict the water level in the future. The code also tells the difference between the water level from the past year's value. From the result, we can predict the water level in the upcoming years and plan a perfect solution for it. It helps us in recharging Groundwater level and helps the community to resilience easily.

How we built it

As a first step we collected the water level data using sensors connected in IoT. We searched for techniques to recharge and increase the groundwater level. Later we developed machine learning code to analyse the data from the IoT and predict the level in Forthcoming days(years). Using the output data from machine learning an most suitable method for recharging selected based on the seriousness of the problem.

Challenges we ran into

The challenge we faced while preparing is the selection of sensors for configuring IoT with it, but after many hours of research we came up with the solution for it. Next challenge we came up with while working on this is the datasheet for initial testing of the code. After referring to multiple sources and sites we were able to collect the complete data set.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of building machine learning for predicting and analyzing groundwater level. We feel more proud in helping the society by predicting the groundwater level in forthcoming years which creates an awareness to them and helps them restore it.

What we learned

By working on this topic we were able to learn more on IoT, Machine learning and how to implement them. Learned about groundwater recharging techniques and how to collect datasheets and change them to csv form.

What's next for Water Level Manager

We are planning on enhancing the accuracy of the predictor and to improve the quality of sensing by upgrading to high efficiency sensors. And our ultimate goal is to automate this process completely with 0% human work.
