Inspiration

Almost 8 years ago, Hurricane Michael hit the Florida panhandle where my grandparents lived. They insisted that the storm was going to pass over them before it was too late to leave, and we lost contact with them for a while. The destruction on the news looked horrific, and all I wanted was a way to make sure that they were ok. They ended up being fine, but buildings a few miles from them were completely demolished. I wish there had been a way to know that my grandparents were ok. This is the reason I created an app where people can send pictures of natural disaster areas which tremendously helps first responders allocate their resources and aid effectively.

What it does

This app allows researchers to post data inquiries to the general public where they can make money by collecting time sensitive data that could aid in research, allocation of aid, and climate change.

How we built it

I built it using Python and Swift. I used Grok Imagine for image generation and classification, Grok Voice for generating audio for instruction-following, and Grok LLM for data synthesis, verification, and classification.

Challenges we ran into

Data verification is the most difficult part of this problem. One must incentivize people to generate data while making sure the data retains quality. To solve this, I leveraged an eight parameter weighted verification score to quantify instruction-following, trustworthiness, and other metrics relating to how likely the data was to be corrupted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of putting in place Uber-style surge pricing for high-demand data.

What we learned

I learned that building AI agents like GrokBot heavily rely on rigorous pipelines with high-quality evaluation suites. An agent is only as good as its critic.

What's next for GroundTruth

GroundTruth will be spread throughout the scientific community, and will encourage sponsorship from charitable causes in order to encourage high-quality data collection for invaluable research.
