GrooveCrew: Matching Teams With the Right Rhythm Inspiration

GrooveCrew was born from a simple but frustrating reality: reviewing applicant responses in a Google Sheet felt like trying to choreograph a dance with hundreds of out-of-sync partners. As a founder who rebuilt life from Stage IV cancer using the healing power of arts and movement, I’ve always believed the right people can transform the energy of a team.

That belief, combined with the spirit of Dance4Healing and 9MusesLive, led to the question:

“What if finding the right teammates felt more like finding your dance crew?”

GrooveCrew emerged from that spark—an AI-powered rhythm detector for talent alignment.

What it does

GrooveCrew analyzes applicant submissions directly inside a Google Sheet—no APIs, no manual scanning. Using an AGI browser agent, it:

Reads key columns defined by the hiring manager

Interprets applicant responses

Scores each candidate from 1 to 5 1 to 5

Writes both the score and a short explanation into the sheet

Notifies your team once scoring is complete

Helps you generate personalized interview-invite emails

In short: it finds the people who move in sync with your mission.

How we built it

GrooveCrew is powered by:

AGI Inc’s Computer-Use API, enabling an AI agent to literally open the Google Sheet, read text from cells, click into fields, type, scroll, and write results back.

A clean React/TypeScript UI for configuration, viewing results, and managing invites.

A backend service that triggers the AI reviewer, saves summaries, and sends notifications.

A flexible scoring rubric that combines mission alignment, clarity, communication, initiative, and growth mindset.

We designed the system to function like a digital reviewer who never gets tired, never skips details, and always stays in rhythm.

Challenges we ran into

Building GrooveCrew wasn’t all smooth choreography—more like a dress rehearsal with tangled mic cables:

No Google Sheets API allowed. This meant teaching an AI agent to navigate a live Google Sheet like a human. Think virtual fingertips tapping digital keys.

Inconsistent sheet formatting. Applicants love free-form text; Google Sheets… less so. We had to build robust logic to detect headers, interpret messy responses, and correct course.

Agent reliability across different browsers and views. The agent needed to adapt if the sheet loaded in grid view, compact view, or scrolled to the wrong column.

Complexity of human expression. Rating someone’s motivation or alignment with a mission requires nuance. We refined the scoring rubric through multiple rounds to balance empathy and structure.

Each challenge sharpened the product.

What we learned

AI can elevate HR, not replace it—especially when it honors creativity and culture.

Good design matters. HR tools don’t need to feel clinical; they can feel joyful.

The more we leaned into the metaphor of dance and rhythm, the clearer the product vision became.

Using AGI for real-world browser tasks is powerful—and requires thoughtful guardrails.
