Inspiration

Crank it up! Crank the volume to 11 and have some fun. That's our whole inspiration for Groove Genie. It was time to put the fun back in AI. There are loads of useful AI apps, but not enough fun. We decided it's time to let our hair down and create something both ridiculous and fun. Oh, and learn some AI along the way!

Besides, who hasn't dreamed of starting their own Band!

What it does

Create a Band, AI style!

Toss in a genre and a short description of the band, and let Groove Genie do it's magic to conjure up:

  • A headliner style band name
  • Band bio featuring your virtual bandmates
  • Rad cover of their latest album
  • Lyrics to their chart-topping hit
  • An interview with the band
  • A review of the bring down the house show your band just put on

How we built it

We invited AWS PartyRock to the stage for an AI solo! PartyRock of course rocked the house and made it cool and fun to build our app!

It took a lot of laughs and giggles and hard work to get it all working together

Challenges we ran into

Wrangling an LLM to get these stochastic beasts to behave is an accomplishment akin to a wild guitar solo. Prompt Engineering was the hardest thing we worked on. We even built our own app to optimize prompts - Prompt Hero

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Most of all, building something that is fun and brings smiles and laughter to anyone we show it to. In a sea of practical AI apps, we wanted something ridiculously impractical and ridiculously fun!

What we learned

AI is fun! The world of AI can seem all business, we wanted to break on through and use creativity to build something outrageous and fun.

Wrangling stochastic beast LLMs is hard but, in the end, rewarding.

We could add a plethora of fun new capabilities, things we have discussed include:

  • Images from the latest tour
  • More lyrics, perhaps an AI lyrics creator that lets you be part of the artistry
  • The bands latest social media - a social media simulator
  • A virtual fan club
  • Tour dates and itinerary
  • Band trivia game
