GroGenie – Your AI Copilot for Financial Growth
Inspiration
The inspiration for GroGenie came from seeing the daily challenges faced by GroMo Partners. Many of them, especially first-time sellers, struggle with understanding complex financial products, engaging customers effectively, and managing objections during live conversations. We wanted to create a solution that not only helped them make smarter sales but also empowered them with continuous learning and real-time support.
We believed that AI could be the key to addressing these challenges, and GroGenie was born out of that vision — a personal AI assistant that guides and grows with every GroMo Partner.
What We Learned
During the project, we gained deep insights into both the financial distribution space and the power of artificial intelligence. We learned how AI can assist in live, context-specific situations, such as providing personalized product recommendations and offering real-time support during sales calls. Additionally, we discovered the importance of building a solution that is intuitive, mobile-first, and adaptable to the specific needs of financial agents in India’s underpenetrated markets.
From a technical perspective, working with cutting-edge AI models like GPT-4 and Whisper taught us the intricacies of natural language processing and real-time speech-to-text technology. The use of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) for personalized learning was a breakthrough, allowing us to create context-aware interactions with Partners.
How We Built the Project
GroGenie was built with the goal of being a seamless part of the GroMo app. The core features we developed include:
AI Product Recommender: This feature recommends the best financial product based on a customer's profile. We trained the system using data from GroMo's existing user base and external product information.
Real-Time Sales Assistant: Using GPT-4, we built a system that helps Partners during live calls or chats. The AI suggests answers to common customer queries, simplifies complex financial jargon, and provides ways to handle objections.
Interactive Learning Buddy: This feature helps Partners learn about products through conversational AI. The system provides brief, scenario-based learning content and quizzes to reinforce product knowledge.
Post-Sales Call Review: Using speech-to-text technology (Whisper), GroGenie can analyze sales calls and offer feedback on what went well and what could improve. It also provides sentiment analysis to identify high-interest leads.
The entire project was built with a focus on scalability and mobile-first usability. We chose React Native for the frontend to ensure accessibility on both Android and iOS, and Node.js for the backend to handle requests efficiently. For AI processing, we used GPT-4 for real-time interactions, Whisper for transcription, and LangChain with Pinecone for personalized learning and knowledge retrieval.
Challenges Faced
One of the biggest challenges we faced was ensuring that the AI could provide relevant, context-aware recommendations and responses during live sales calls. It was difficult to balance between AI-driven support and keeping the human touch in sales conversations. We wanted the AI to be an assistant, not a replacement.
Another challenge was creating a system that could work efficiently in low-resource environments. GroMo Partners operate in various regions with inconsistent internet connectivity and diverse levels of technological proficiency. Ensuring that GroGenie functioned smoothly in such environments was a key hurdle.
Additionally, integrating real-time voice transcription and sentiment analysis with minimal delay proved to be technically demanding. We spent a significant amount of time fine-tuning the system to ensure that feedback was actionable, timely, and easy for users to interpret.

GroGenie has been a rewarding project that not only allowed us to apply AI to solve real-world problems but also provided valuable learning experiences in both technology and user-centered design. It has the potential to transform the way GroMo Partners sell and learn, making their work more efficient, engaging, and rewarding.
As we move forward, we are excited about further enhancing GroGenie, expanding its capabilities, and supporting even more financial agents in their journey towards success.
