Inspiration
At the beginning of this I had a partner who had the idea for the app. Sadly he had to stop due to some school work that came up so I decided to continue on with his plans.
What it does
GroceryGrabber is an app that helps connect consumers with local businesses that sell the products they are shopping for. The user can select what items they would like to buy then they will be greeted with contact information and addresses of local small businesses that supply those goods.
How we built it
It with built using Kotlin and Android
Challenges we ran into
My partner was the Kotlin android developer and I was mostly using this as a learning opportunity so everything that was being used was new to me.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Able to get a launching app that uses jetpack navigation features to move between fragments.
What we learned
The Android Activity lifecycle as well as fragment lifecycle. Android xml view layouts to create views for the fragments. Jetpack Navigation features to traverse fragments. Adapter pattern for different list-type views available in Android.
What's next for GroceryGrabber
Once I am able to complete the Business display and style all of the fragments further. I think it would be nice to create a backend to store business information that way local businesses can self-enroll for displaying w/in the app
