Inspiration
We drew inspiration from applications such as Forest as well as Habit Tracker to create what is known as GroBeach. We chose to do an aquatic sea theme due to the theme of MarinaHacks being the same. The name GroBeach is actually inspired by CSULB’s motto, “GO BEACH”.
What it does
The application will start off with a dirty beach and ocean area. From there on it is your choice to add on habits that you want to track so that you can clean it up. As you continue to check off or record the habits you add to the list that you want to track, your beach gets cleaner as well as and you may get the option to add on cute and unique fish.
How I built it
To develop and implement our application, we created a Java GUI and interact with the program via the terminal. When designing the application, we created our graphics through Procreate. We also created mockups of the application’s design through Figma.
Challenges I ran into
We ran into challenges when constructing a GUI and having it work cooperate with the Main class.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to come up with an idea and use our individual skills to create a product.
What I learned
We learned that projects are heavily time-consuming.
What's next for GroBeach
GroBeach will need a lot of design work and further utility for the application to be more engaging.
