GRO DAO

Inspiration

GRO DAO is a revolutionary project that seeks to provide a sustainable solution to the lack of basic necessities faced by migratory populations such as Haiti. This project is inspired by the need to create opportunities and support local economies in developing countries.

What it does

We created a blockchain-based solution that leverages the power of the Ethereum platform to support music NFTs. Our solution is composed of the MVP to include the Real Estate Asset and the Smart Contract (Music NFT) followed the DAO to create a community, benefits, and voting.

How we built it

We started by identifying the key challenges faced by migratory populations, including a lack of employment and opportunity, low property values, and a lack of locally sourced agriculture. The social impact is accomplished by fixing this and providing the population with opportunity. The initial pitch shows a working prototype of the framework that can be replicated with real estate in other countries.

It happened that the owner of a building was departing during the hackathon and a conversation was struck that gave us the Real Estate (asset) to build the MVP. We then built an ERC Smart Contract to support NFT creation, and a secure and transparent platform for collectors. This was then paired with a music licensing opportunity to create the music NFT. Our inspiration was seeing these all align in such a short timeframe.

Next, we identified a way to drive sign-ups and awareness, and engage this strategy to onboard the youth and creators to join the community. The outcome: a geo-located music-NFTs tied to existing real estate, providing a secure and valuable asset for holders.

Following from the Inspiration and solution. The objective and application were to bring the resources and tools to the local community - using blockchain technology. Delivering on the promise of Ethereum by transferring value to Haiti and help grow its economy.

Challenges we ran into

There was a learning curve to address as the team brought diverse knowledge and strengths. The deployment of a Smart Contract, Music NFT and AR for a geolocated real estate.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a solution that is both sustainable and has the potential to make a real impact on the lives of migratory populations. We are also proud of the partnerships we have formed with international music artists, and music licensing agreements. The team pulled together and collaborated to get this unique project over the finish line.

What we learned

Along the way we learned from the workshops, Office Hours, panels and the MHW hosts at the houses. We also had the opportunity to learn about AI, and the sponsors such as BEAM, Otis, ThirdWeb (the smart contract), 8th Wall (the Augmented Reality), and various other technologies.

We learned that blockchain technology has the power to create a secure and transparent platform for NFTs, and that music and AR can be powerful tools for driving awareness and engagement. We also learned the importance of community and partnerships in creating a sustainable solution.

What's next for GRO DAO

We will add AR to create a unique onboarding experience, a marketplace such as Shopify to offer perks and swag for the community. Currently, we are now focused on scaling our solution and inviting friends to join us on DevPost Jobs. We believe that by working together, we can create a sustainable and equitable solution that will have a real impact on the lives of migratory populations. Our goal is to inspire others to join us in this transformative journey and help us make a real difference in the world.
