Inspiration
We wanted to incorporate the Tinder "Swipe" feature in our app. After some intense brainstorming we decided to use the feature to bridge the gap between investors and small businesses.
What it does
Gro is a “dating” app for investors and businesses. Here’s how it works: 1) Small businesses can create profiles exhibiting their goals and how much capital they need from an investor. 2) Investors then get to choose whether to “swipe left or right” on a series of small businesses based on their interests. 3) They can view more information on these small businesses through their bios to make informed decisions.
How we built it
We used Android Studio, Firebase and Java to develop the app. GitHub Desktop was used for cross-collaboration activities.
Challenges we ran into
We had numerous merging conflicts on GitHub! To mitigate this we created new branches for every major update.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making an entire app in 12 hours is no easy feat and we are so proud of how far we have come!
What we learned
We can call ourselves "experts" in Android Studio! We understand the connections between .xml and .java files as well as components like drawables and style files.
What's next for Gro
We want to monetize the app and improve on our UI. We also want to introduce a premium feature for both business and investors which includes unique aspects such as an AI recommendation system.
