The Story Behind GRIT

Inspiration

For months, my biggest headache wasn't writing code, it was losing leads in the noise. I'd reach out to potential clients, get buried in development, and completely forget to follow up. Deals went cold simply because existing CRMs felt bloated, slow, and built for bloated sales teams rather than solo developers.

I needed a high-signal, zero-friction tool that enforced action so nothing fell through the cracks. That's why I built GRIT.

The Build & Key Challenges

I joined this hackathon late, so my biggest enemy was time. With the submission clock ticking down, I had to ruthlessly cut filler and focus purely on tactile, high-impact features.

  • Tactile Design: Skipped heavy UI libraries to write raw, high-contrast Neo-Brutalist CSS from scratch.
  • Scatter Physics: Built custom CSS spring transitions so you can switch between chaotic, unsorted idea notes and a clean 5-stage pipeline.
  • Enforced Momentum: Added strict stage rules, like a hard 72-hour timer on Reached Out leads so you never hesitate on your next move.
// Enforcing strict stage flow
type PipelineStage =
  | '01_NOT_CONTACTED'
  | '02_REACHED_OUT'
  | '03_RESPONDED'
  | '04_NEGOTIATING'
  | '05_WON';
