💡 Inspiration & Municipal Context

East Gainesville (ZIP 32641) residents face an energy burden exceeding 14.8% of their income on Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) bills, compared to only 4.6% in western areas. Combined with Alachua County's vulnerable karst limestone terrain and flood-prone creeks, electrical infrastructure faces severe cascading risks. GridAegis GNV was developed to unite geospatial equity analysis, topological failure simulation, and accessible AI triage.

⚡ What It Does

  • Spatial GIS Energy Burden: Maps census tract disparities and incorporates calibrated NASA ECOSTRESS Land Surface Temperature (LST) layers displaying a +4.2°C heat island. Includes a "What-If" simulator quantifying monthly household savings from solar and canopy expansions.
  • Topological Karst-Grid DAG Simulator: Executes a sub-20ms Breadth-First Search Directed Acyclic Graph cascade predicting substation trips from hurricane surges.
  • Multimodal Google Gemini Utility Auditor: Performs OCR extraction on utility tariffs and fuel adjustments, drafting official Florida LIHEAP hardship assistance with Spanish translation and browser voice synthesis.
  • 72-Hour Microgrid Dispatch Solver: Models battery storage and solar dispatch curves maintaining continuous life-support power above a 20% Depth-of-Discharge reserve.
  • Offline Emergency Shelter Pass: Generates a zero-bandwidth printable pass providing access to life-support resources during communications outages.

🛠️ How We Built It

  • Frontend & Architecture: Next.js 14 (App Router), TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
  • AI Integration: Google Gemini Multimodal API via edge routes.
  • Graph & GIS Modeling: Sub-20ms BFS traversal algorithms and NASA EarthData thermal layers.
  • Accessibility: Web Speech API for voice assistance and multilingual support. ## Challenges we ran into
