Inspiration

We were inspired to build this product because of our own struggles as aspiring tech professionals. We found that there were limited resources and support available for individuals trying to navigate the tech industry and find the right career path for themselves. We wanted to create a platform that would provide the necessary resources and support for individuals to succeed in the tech industry, even if they don't have the same advantages as others.

What it does

GregTalent is a web-based platform that offers a variety of features to help individuals achieve their career goals in the tech industry. Users can create a profile and select their desired tech path and skills to learn. They can connect with mentors and mentees, earn credits as they learn new skills, and stay updated with the latest tech news. Additionally, users can use the job application tracker to keep track of the details and status of their job applications. With GregTalent, we want to level the playing field for all aspiring tech professionals and give them the tools they need to succeed in the tech industry.

How we built it

We built GregTalent using the MERN stack with Material UI library. We knew that we had to work fast and efficiently if we wanted to complete the project within the given time frame. We used MongoDB to store user data, and used React, Express, and NodeJS to build the front and back end of the platform. We chose Material UI library because it offers a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced during the development process was integrating all of the different features of the platform into a cohesive and user-friendly interface. For example, we had to ensure that all the different features were seamlessly integrated into the platform. Additionally, we faced challenges in connecting the front-end and back-end of the platform, as well as ensuring all pages were properly routed. It was a race against time, but we managed to pull through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team, we are proud of creating a platform that addresses a real need in the tech industry and provides a valuable resource for aspiring tech professionals. Additionally, we are proud of the fact that we were able to successfully integrate all of the different features of the platform into a cohesive and user-friendly interface.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained a deeper understanding of the technologies used to build the platform and how to effectively use them to create a functional and user-friendly product. Additionally, we learned how to work together as a team and how to effectively manage and delegate tasks to ensure that the project was completed on time.

What's next for GREGTALENT

GregTalent is just the beginning for our team. We plan to continuously improve and add new features to the platform to better serve the needs of aspiring tech professionals. Additionally, we are actively seeking opportunities to partner with companies and organizations in the tech industry to expand the reach and impact of our platform.
