Inspiration Based on the theme of the hackathon.

Not everyone is available physically for greeting the ones who are celebrating their special occasions, that can be birthday, anniversary, convocation, or anything else. Moreover, due to COVID constraints, not a lot of people are allowed to gather in a single place. Hence, we decided to build a website that can help people greet the ones they care about without physically being near them.

What it does

Our website makes greeting cards to send wishes to their friends and family online. We ask the user to enter the name, wishes, gift (if any), and use it to make a card that they can share with the person.

How we built it

We built it with HTML, CSS, JavaScript. And to store information entered in the form we used firebase from google.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into many challenges and we are happy we overcome most of them. Firstly, we all were only familiar with front-end development, and the project we were targeting needed some backend. So, we searched a lot discussed a lot, and came close to achieving the output we desired. We never hosted any website this was also a challenge for us. And also never coded for this long 😁 as this was our first hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to make a backend for our website as we were not familiar with any backend technology. We wanted to achieve more things with the backend but as we were not familiar with it we have to scrap some of the ideas but we are PROUD we completed the project timely.

What we learned

Learned many things on the go. Learned how to use firebase. How to get a domain from GODADDY. How to host a website from Firebase. How to send data to firebase database in real-time. And most importantly Team-Work this was our very first hackathon never before worked on a team project so this was a good experience for all of us😄.

What's next for Greet Without Meet

In the future, we want to add more things to our website. Add more templates to choose from. Provide the custom link for the card and many more such things which we have to drop because we were short of a backend developer. As we progress our journey in learning new things we will definitely work on the things which we were not able to complete today.

I worked on the frontend as well as the backend part of the project. I was not familiar with any backend stuff not any of my team members. We discussed a lot and then I searched a lot and finally found how to send data from a website and create a database using firebase and then how to host on firebase. Learned many new things while building this project.

I worked on the idea of website. Also dropped and added few ideas in the progress. Then I suggested my team to use a form for filling out the credentials of the users.
Also I wasn't familiar with the concept of domain, hosting and firebase, so learned this too during this journey.
It was a fun time and I've learned a lot.
