Inspiration

The idea for Green Works originated from the need to promote collective environmental responsibility in a way that is accessible, community engaging and fun! Many individuals want to contribute to preserving the planet but often lack clear guidance, motivation or they might think that they are alone and have a social negative effect in their eco-plan. This inspired us to design a platform that transforms sustainability into an interactive and community-driven experience.

What We Learned

Throughout the development process, we learned how combining gamification, education, and technology can significantly enhance user engagement. We also explored the use of AI in providing personalized learning experiences, and how data-driven insights can encourage consistent environmental action.

How We Built It

Green Works was developed using modern web technologies:

_Frontend_: React 18, TypeScript, Vite
_UI Components_: shadcn/ui, Tailwind CSS
_Backend_: Lovable Cloud (Supabase)
_Database_: PostgreSQL
_Charts_: Recharts
_Routing_: React Router v6

We combined these components to create a platform where users can participate in sustainability challenges, take quizzes, and interact with an intelligent chatbot to learn about the ecosystem.

Challenges We Faced

Developing Green Works involved several technical and conceptual challenges. Ensuring the accuracy of environmental information while maintaining an engaging tone for users required balancing educational content with accessibility. Designing a natural and context-aware chatbot was another major challenge, involving multiple iterations of prompt engineering and response testing. Additionally, integrating real-time user data securely and maintaining system performance during heavy user interaction tested our understanding of scalable backend design.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of creating and implementing our first chat-bot ever in a project! We always saw it as a hard task to accomplish but after a lot of discussion we actually managed to pull it of!

What we learned

We learned how to create and implement a bot in a website, and also this project made us understand and learn a bit more about the ecosystem where we live in and its importance!
