Inspiration

Many people want to live sustainably but are unaware of how their daily activities impact the environment. During the hackathon, we wanted to build a tool that makes sustainability measurable and engaging. This inspired us to create Green Track, a platform that helps users monitor eco-friendly actions and understand their carbon footprint.

What it does

Green Track is a web application that allows users to track sustainable activities and visualize their environmental impact.

Users can: Log eco-friendly activities Monitor carbon emissions View graphical analytics of their habits Compete on a leaderboard to encourage sustainable behavior

The goal is to make sustainability simple, trackable, and motivating.

How we built it

Green Track was built using a lightweight web stack.

Technologies used: HTML for structure CSS for styling and responsive UI JavaScript for application logic and data handling GitHub for version control

Vercel for deployment

The project was developed in VS Code, and screenshots were added to the repository to demonstrate the interface.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was designing a simple system that could track activities while also presenting meaningful analytics. We also had to structure the UI in a way that made the data easy to understand.

Another challenge was preparing the project for deployment and ensuring the demo worked smoothly during the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully building a working sustainability tracker within the hackathon time limit Creating a clean and simple user interface Deploying the project live using Vercel Demonstrating how small actions can collectively impact the environment

What we learned

Through this project, we learned more about: Rapid prototyping during hackathons Deploying web applications using Vercel Structuring a project for open-source sharing on GitHub Designing tools that encourage sustainable behavior

What's next for GreenTrack

Future improvements for Green Track include: AI-based carbon footprint prediction Mobile application version Integration with smart devices or wearables Community challenges to promote sustainability

Our goal is to turn Green Track into a platform that helps communities build better environmental habits together.
