Inspiration
We both enjoy gardening, but we always end up killing our plants. We wanted to develop an easy way to keep track of when to water our plant, so they remain happy and healthy.
What it does
Green Thumb helps gardeners keep track of their plants watering schedule to prevent root rot from over watering or dried root from under watering.
How we built it
This was built using HTML and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We both are not experienced in JavaScript so creating a responsive web app was difficult. After hours of trying to implement JavaScript, we ended up making a static HTML/CSS page.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One of our biggest accomplishments is finishing on time, and being able to create a website using HTML and CSS as we both are much more knowledgable in backend programming.
What we learned
We learned about the many stages it takes to go from an idea to a product, and we also learned some fundamentals and experience about using front-end languages.
What's next for GreenThumb
We intend to implement JavaScript to make the website responsive as well as use a database for plant information. We would also like to implement a location service to allow users to see what plants grow best near them, and authenticate to save their plants to their account.
