Inspiration
We wanted to make a web app that helped climate activists and people, in general, be informed about current issues and how they can reduce their carbon footprint.
What it does
It shows a map with pinpoints showing where there are climate-related issues and generates facts and images related to them. It would also have a carbon footprint tracker that would give suggestions on how actually to reduce the user's footprint. It would also have ads and the option for a premium version which would get rid of any watermarks on the images if they would like to use it.
How we built it
The challenge was to create an architecture diagram which showed how all the tools were connected. This also has information about what each Azure service does and how everything is connected. An ARM template was also attempted but could not be completed in time.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints and learning to use Azure to bring the product to life.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was all of our first hackathon so we are proud that we finished one and had a submission.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the different services that Azure provides and how they can be implemented in various ways. It helps especially to develop websites and maintain them for the long term. Many features help with scalability and minimizing costs.
What's next for GreenSphere Explorer
We hope to develop the application after the hackathon.
