Inspiration

Climate change doesn't affect everyone equally. While wealthier communities have access to education, resources, and green technologies, millions in climate-vulnerable regions face the dual burden of environmental threats and limited access to life-saving knowledge.

During our research into UN Sustainable Development Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), we had a revelation: climate education is not just about sustainability—it's about justice, equity, and survival.

We asked ourselves: What if a farmer in rural Pakistan could learn rainwater harvesting in 5 minutes while seeing live rainfall data for their region? What if a youth in Kenya could master solar basics and earn a recognized certificate—all for free?

That question became GreenSkill Booster—a platform that turns the same satellite and climate data used by scientists into accessible, actionable education for the people who need it most.

Challenges we ran into

1. The 24-Hour Clock

Building a multi-featured platform with live data integration in 24 hours seemed impossible. Solution: We leveraged Lovable AI for 10x faster prototyping and divided tasks strategically—one focused on UI/lessons, the other on data/APIs.

2. ASDI Data Complexity

ASDI datasets are massive and stored in complex formats (GRIB2, NetCDF, GeoTIFF). Learning and integrating this under time pressure was our biggest technical hurdle. Solution: We focused on the most accessible datasets (NOAA GFS, Sentinel-2) with good documentation and built frameworks for full live integration post-hackathon.

3. Real-Time Data Display

Displaying location-specific weather and alerts required geolocation, API integration, and error handling—all while the clock ticked. Solution: Implemented location detection with manual fallback and showcased Rawalpindi, Pakistan with real ASDI data as proof of concept.

4. Accessibility Under Pressure

How do you make education accessible to low-literacy users when you're racing against time? Solution: We integrated the ElevenLabs voice framework, designed icon-driven UI, and added voice upload for the action tracker—prioritizing simplicity over complexity.

5. Sleep Deprivation

Maintaining focus and code quality over 24 continuous hours was brutal. Solution: Strategic 15-minute breaks every 4 hours, staying hydrated, and the sheer excitement of seeing our vision come alive kept us going.

6. Scope vs. Reality

We had to be ruthless about priorities. Solution: We categorized features as MUST-HAVE (lessons, dashboard, tracker) vs. FUTURE (AI chatbot, full multilingual). We delivered 100% of must-haves and several bonuses.

Accomplishments that we're proud of
