I volunteer at a community garden that adopts sustainable farming practices. Since I started volunteering there, I have been motivated to be conscious my consumption. This inspired me to pursue GreenPost. I learned how to use react and implement a google api. During this project, I struggled the most with building the structure of my project.
What it does
It is a UI, that highlights the features GreenPost would have with a backend implemented. This app allows users to see restaurants that have sustainable practices near by. The user can also see the posts that the community contributes to. Lastly, the map pins the locations to the restaurants on the food list.
How we built it
I built it using React and using the Google maps api to implement the interactive map.
Challenges I ran into
Getting the google maps to render correctly. Structuring the components.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
The project is presentable and that I implemented my first API.
What I learned
Everything I did was learned in the two days of the hackathon. So everything that is seen on the project was learned as I was developing.
What's next for GreenPost
Implement a working search bar and location services.
