Who are we

We at Greenmining are a group of cryptocurrency enthusiasts who believe that promoting the adoption of Bitcoin and being environmentally responsible citizens don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Even though most industrial miners operate in regions with a low-cost of electricity, a lot of the energy used is needlessly wasted – in our view, a gram of carbon generated, regardless of its cost, is still polluting the earth. Thus, we believe that by incorporating the heat generated by mining rigs into a household’s profit/loss calculation, users will get a clearer picture of the true benefits of mining.

The problems we are solving

1. Bitcoin is largely concentrated into industrial-scale miners who benefit from economies of scale and cheap electricity - how can it be a system for the people, if they don't participate in it
2. Current mining calculators only consider the electricity costs of mining, but don’t incorporate cost savings from the heat produced
3. Many houses, particularly in the United States, are missing out on using Bitcoin mining to subsidize their home heating costs, which go up every single year

What our app does

The Greenmining website provides an easy-to-use calculator for users to connect their HVAC systems and work out whether they should profitably run their mining rig. Our app features include:

Live data Users can make immediate decisions based on our app, which is seamlessly integrated into live Bitcoin data streams. Unlike other calculators, users don’t need to go out and separately input prices and market hash rates or rely on static assumptions.

HVAC customization We allow users to enter their household HVAC systems to work out heating saving calculations. Users can get live decisions and calculations based on how their home climate is set.

Clear and transparent outcomes Instead of trying to sell you a piece of hardware, we provide simple go/no-go decision signals. We also provide customization for households to toggle their energy source and customize their utility costs.

CO2 Savings More and more households are concerned about their carbon footprints. We also provide users with an overview of the average annual CO2 emissions they will save by using energy that they would spend on heating

What's next for Greenmining

We are looking to further expand our library of integrations to include:

• Additional HVAC systems (e.g. Google Nest, Ecobee) to reach even more users
• Provide pre-filled specifications for popular mining rigs to streamline the customer experience
• Include calculations for other proof-of-work networks that require large amounts of computational power

Finally, we want to integrate our software directly with OEM rig manufacturers, such that these devices turn on and off automatically based on the household specifications. We want the user experience to be so seamless that they set-up their inputs and parameters, then leave and forget all about it.
