After an item has been deemed to throw in non-recyclable trash
Inspiration:
Not knowing how to recycle certain items, and where recycling bins are
What it does:
It shows the location of ev chargers, disposal bins(recycling, trash, compost) and water bottle fillers on campus
How we built it:
We built it using computer vision and google maps api along with javascript and flutter
Challenges we ran into:
Computer Vision not working due to not seeing gpu, flutter not working with azure maps and so us having to switchover to google maps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
We managed to switch over to google maps and learn how to code with it after azure maps failing to work with flutter.
What we learned:
Not to give up, and how to code in dart alongside how android and ios sdks work
What's next for GreenMaps:
We are going to expand it to other nearby campuses and the dmv area.
