Inspiration

Climate change is affecting wildlife, habitats, and communities, and climate education is complex and mostly boring. There isn't a clear way to see the impact of daily actions and apply real-world solutions. This was the driving principle of EcoGreen.

What it does

EcoGreen is a game where players take on climate challenges to protect endangered species. You can play as one of several endangered species - most notably, a panda. You must avoid obstacles like fires and oil spills to keep yourself safe!

How we built it

We built the game with Unity and C#. In Unity, we all framed and planned out how the game would look, then we merged our scenes together in order to create the game.

Challenges we ran into

In regards to merging, we ran into multiple merging issues in Unity, whether it be from bugs or things simply not merging correctly. Also, due to our differing understandings of Unity, some of us had to rely on those who knew more.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While we only have simple UI, we're proud that we have an interface to work with that is clean and simple; it fits the idea of how the goal is to encourage eco-friendly habits to ultimately help not only endangered species, but the Earth as well!

What we learned

We learned more aspects about Unity, especially 2D Web Design. All us came into this project with differing understanding of Unity; however, all of us learned something new in the world of game development.

What's next for GreenLeague

Our goal for the future of GreenLeague is to incorporate more endangered species over time to bring more awareness to them. We would also like to use this game to host events and competitions for schools and workplaces. We want our game to become a leading game that educates all ages on climate change.
