Inspiration

We were inspired to create Sustainify to empower property managers with a smart assistant and dynamic dashboard that analyze sustainability metrics, advise on eco-friendly practices, and optimize leasing decisions—driving cost savings and a greener future.

What it does

Sustainify is a comprehensive tool that combines a personal assistant bot and a dashboard to analyze different energy and resource usages, assess sustainability metrics, and provide actionable advice to property managers. It processes input using an LLM trained to interpret resource data, optimize efficiency, and promote more economic decisions while driving sustainability.

How we built it

We built Sustainify using a powerful tech stack designed for efficiency and performance. ReactJS, Tailwind CSS, and NodeJS were used for a sleek, fully responsive, and dynamic frontend. ChartJS, Pandas, and Scikit-learn handled data visualization and analysis, making complex insights easy to understand. SambaNova powered the LLM, enabling advanced natural language processing for tailored advice. Flask served as the backend framework, seamlessly connecting the frontend with data processing and visualization, while PostgreSQL ensured robust data storage.

Challenges we ran into

One of the key challenges we faced was optimizing the LLM to generate accurate and context-specific responses. Fine-tuning the model to interpret diverse energy and resource usage data while ensuring meaningful, actionable insights required iterative testing and significant computational resources.

We're proud to have identified a vital use case in sustainable property management, showcased creativity through an intuitive assistant and dashboard, and successfully delivered a tool that empowers economic and eco-friendly decisions.

What we learned

We learned the ins and outs of the software development life cycle in a collaborative environment. We were also able to expand our knowledge in various technologies and tools and how to utilize them in an optimal way. Ultimately, our team was able to grow through this valuable experience.
