Inspiration

The inspiration to promote sustainability comes from a deep sense of responsibility towards the planet and future generations. The world we live in today faces numerous environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and pollution, all of which are caused by human activities. Promoting sustainability is about recognizing the impact that our actions have on the planet and taking steps to reduce that impact. By making sustainability more accessible, we can increase the number of individuals willing to help make a difference.

What it does

GreenerGoals provides a list of nearby activities, helpful resources, and a fun rewards/prize program to help society become more sustainable. Based on their location, users can browse current or future events like beach cleanups and school seminars in their area. As an alternative to going out, people can educate themselves by checking out GreenerGoals’ Learning Page, where they will find articles and information about sustainability. As an incentive, GreenerGoals has a reward system for participating and learning more about going green. People can earn badges and points and even win prizes as big as a day trip to a national park!

How we built it

We built this project using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge we ran into while developing our idea was part of the rewards program. We had to find a reasonable way to verify an account's actions to receive reward points so that the system would not be abused. We came up with the idea to work with professionals and other companies to create community tasks that a professional can oversee. They would be able to help the individual during the activities and also verify the results.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created an interactive and accessible app that encourages people to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Since this is our first hackathon, our team was proud to have even created anything that could help everyone!

What we learned

We learned how to create dynamic and interactive frames using Figma to simulate our sustainability development app.

What's next for GreenerGoals

In the future, our team hopes to create and code a prototype of our app. We plan to test our product and make improvements to stay up to date on any new sustainable issues. We also aim to build a community and reach out to/work with sponsors. We’d love to get input on how to make GreenerGoals an even “greener” app.
